A family-Friendly Tour from the top

The west bowl of Schweitzer Basin and just beyond the ski area boundary lines lies miles of maintained trails accessible to our guided snowmobile tours. Schweitzer Backcountry Adventures offers two distinct guided snowmobile tours for everyone in your group to enjoy a unique adventure just beyond the resort boundaries!

We utilize the latest Polaris Indy snowmobiles with heated hand grips, comfortable driver and passenger seats, touch screen displays, and miles of good times! Travel along our resort boundary line or drop deep into the drainage and experience a remote forested area with amazing views of the Selkirk Mountains, Priest River Valley, and Lake Pend Oreille. As we drop down the valley you will experience ice rock walls, old cedar groves, and free flowing creeks around every corner. End your day at one of our many dining outlets with food, drinks, and share stories of the adventure with your group.

Beginning date is December 14th (weather-permitting) and costs start at $225 per person.

Additional Information

We provide Polaris snowmobiles, DOT rated helmets, and googles.

On the tours, guests will be provided with light snacks and water for the tour.
We operate on mountain roads that are covered in snow and groomed by snowcat machines. We have everything from flat, rolling, uphill and downhill, as well as twisty and curvy roads!
We take first-time snowmobilers every day and help them become comfortable rather quickly. Snowmobiles are stable machines that require sitting and upper body steering control as well as hand movements to operate the throttle with your right thumb and the brake with your left hand. Unlike a motorcycle or bicycle, snowmobiles do not require balancing but similarly, guests will experience bumps and movements corresponding to the condition of the ever-changing trail conditions. Passengers need to be comfortable sitting on a rear seat with seat back, heated armrest, as well as taking direction from their guide.
Guide gratuities are not included in the purchase price of your tour. Your guide team is highly trained and specialized in their disciplines, often dedicating their life's work toward this endeavor. Your guide team operates in a service industry and gratuities are a common practice so long as you feel they’ve met and exceeded your expectations. Similar to other service industries, gratuities are typically between 15%-20%. The team pools the days tips between the entire day’s guide team. Your guides are able to receive cash, Venmo, and Zelle onsite.
