At Schweitzer, we recognize that we are part of an even larger community - the city of Sandpoint. We love our beautiful little city on the lake and make it a priority to give back to the community that makes us who we are! Each year, Schweitzer gives a value of over $250,000 in direct and indirect cash and in-kind donations. If you would like to request a donation for your local non-profit, click the button below to learn more and apply!

How Does Schweitzer Give?

Schweitzer donates and gives back to our local community not just financially, but also by giving away tickets, gift bags, season passes, chairs from lifts, and more to local charities. Our cash donations are focused on organizations that support our locals such as:

In 2024, Schweitzer raised $13,880 for Sandpoint's Community Cancer Services

Pass Holder Appreciation Auction
In 2024, $11,025 was raised and donated to the Bonner Community Food Bank

Own the Night Twilight Ski Tickets
In 2024, Schweitzer donated $9,717 to each organization: NIMSEF, YMCA, and Sandpoint Parks & Rec

Summer Community Day:
In 2024, $1,760 was raised and donated to the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force

We also give back via:

  • Board membership and volunteerism with NIMSEF, PAFE, Chamber of Commerce, and more!
  • Discounted or complimentary lift tickets to support various programs such as Schweitzer Alpine Racing School, Independence Racing, Schweitzer Chapel, and more.
  • Use of land to support various programs such as Selkirk Outdoor Leadership and Education (SOLE), Sandpoint Nordic Club, Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center (IPAC)

How We Help The Community Go Skiing

Schweitzer is passionate about helping get people out on the slopes! Here are a few ways we help people in our local community go skiing:

  • Every 4th grade class in LPOSD is invited to attend a free lesson and ski day with their class
  • Any 5th and 6th grader can participate in Ski Idaho's passport program which entitles them to three free days of skiing at Schweitzer (and free days at other resorts as well!)
  • Their families gets a complimentary family subscription to AirFlare
  • We give a discounted rate to NIMSEF to support kids participating in the Funatics program

We Assist Other Organizations With Their Fundraising Events On The Mountain

Another way Schweitzer gives back is by assisting other organizations with their fundraising events on the mountain! A few examples are:

Our Favorite Highlights Over The Years

One of our favorite events was Chairs for Charity. Our passionate guests were able to choose a local organization to make a $2,000 donation to and we would give them a chair when they did. The result was $267,000 that was distributed to local non-profits!
