The town

Enjoy our hometown of Sandpoint
Welcome to the charming town of Sandpoint, ID, voted by Rand McNally as the "Most Beautiful Small Town in America." Located only 11 miles from Schweitzer on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint has it all, including a thriving arts community, fantastic restaurants, and local craft beers and wines. Stop into Mick Duff's, Eichardt's, or The Fat Pig for lunch or dinner before heading up to the mountain.

Year round, there are plenty of events and places to play! Summertime offers the renowned Festival at Sandpoint concert series and our locals' favorite, the Farmer's Market, held every Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoons in Farmin Park June-September. Silverwood Theme Park is only 35 minutes away and offers fun thrills for all ages.

Staying in town is a great option when visiting Schweitzer. There, you'll be close to some of the area's best restaurants, bars, and shops. Plus, thanks to the SPOT bus, you can ride public transportation from town all the way to Schweitzer's village during the winter season!

    • Spokane: A Ski Destination
Spokane is located just a short drive from a plethora of ski resorts without the crowds. Skiers and snowboarders will find over 13,000 skiable acres available at seven ski resorts located within a three-hour drive from Spokane International Airport.

Because of Spokane’s undiscovered status, you also don’t need to worry about crowded airports or expensive accommodations. Compared to ski destinations such as Salt Lake City, Utah (1 million people) or Denver, Colorado (3 million people), it’s easy to see why Spokane (just over half a million people), offers more ski acreage with fewer folks waiting for the lifts. It’s the equation for pure shred perfection!

Those with an Ikon Pass can also check out RED Mountain, Panorama, Ski Big 3 (Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay), and Revelstoke!

Spending a night in the city? While passing through, make the most of your time in Spokane and experience some of the great restaurants, events, and activities.

    • Space & Snow to Spare
Two of the larger resorts in our region, Schweitzer and Whitewater Ski Resort, each offer over 300 inches of snow per year, have summit elevations of over 6,000 feet, and offer over 2,000 feet of vertical drop. With the Sellkirk Mountains’ reliable snowpack, that equates to tons of space to ski and ride, and a lot of snow to go around.
