Schweitzer's Nordic trails provide 32 kilometers of fun, challenging terrain, and spectacular views in every direction. Our trails are groomed to accommodate both classic and skate skiers of all levels. New to Nordic skiing? Sign up for a lesson with one of our experienced coaches for personal instruction tailored to your needs. If you're in need of gear, we rent Rossignol equipment (skate and classic) in the Demo Center.

Are Snowbikes Allowed?
Snowbikes are allowed on designated trails only.
Is there a Nordic Season Pass?
Nordic Season Passes are available for purchase and offer you unlimited usage of the Nordic trail system. Visit our season pass page to purchase.
Nordic Trail Dog Policy
Schweitzer loves dogs, but for your dog's safety we ask you to respect the rules of the trail. Dogs are not allowed on any nordic trails.
Nordic Trails Users Responsibilities
- There are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce
- Maintain control of your speed and direction at all times
- Ski in a manner that does not endanger others
- Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible by others
- Obey all signs and posted warnings
- Keep off closed trails
- Report all accidents
- Watch for unmarked obstacles
- Be safety conscious
Dress appropriately for outdoor activity
Trail Courtesy
- Keep to your right upon meeting an oncoming skier
- A climbing skier should yield right of way to a descending skier
- Have a spill on the trail? Be sure to fill your sitzmarks
- Pack out garbage
- No foot traffic on ski trails

- Walk single file
- Walk on the side of the trail
- For your safety, avoid the center of the skate lane
- Please respect the classic tracks set by the groomers
Trail Descriptions
There are countless options on this scenic network of trails. We thought we would highlight a few of the more popular trails and leave the rest for you to explore and discover on your own.
Picnic Point Out and Back
This is a lovely trek that will take you through some of Schweitzer's more accessible and scenic terrain. Start at the village trailhead and follow Overland to the GRR trail intersection and turn left. Take GRR out to Picnic Point. Bring your lunch and enjoy the view!
This loop takes skiers around the perimeter of Schweitzer's trail system past Picnic Point and back to Schweitzer's Village via the cat track short cut. There are numerous "side track trail" opportunities throughout the route.
Picnic Point Out and Back
This is a lovely trek that will take you through some of Schweitzer's more accessible and scenic terrain. Start at the village trailhead and follow Overland to the GRR trail intersection and turn left. Take GRR out to Picnic Point. Bring your lunch and enjoy the view!

- Distance 3mi/5k round trip
- Elevation Gain: Total 320 feet
This loop takes skiers around the perimeter of Schweitzer's trail system past Picnic Point and back to Schweitzer's Village via the cat track short cut. There are numerous "side track trail" opportunities throughout the route.
- Terrain: Some sustained but not steep ups and downs
- Distance: 5mi/8k round trip
- Elevation Gain: Total 550 feet
