Additional Information

Depending on the lesson, lift tickets and rentals can be added during the purchasing process. For private lessons, lift tickets and rentals must be purchased separately.
At Schweitzer, we always do our best to keep class sizes at or below 8 students.
Up to 5 people can participate in private lessons at no additional cost.
You will need to bring your lift ticket or season pass, skis and poles or snowboard, and proper clothing. And don't forget to bring the excitement!
Be sure to check the weather and the Mountain Report page to adequately prepare for your day on the slopes. The most important thing for skiing and riding is to dress in layers. You can always adjust during the day! Wear your base layers (preferably no cotton), mid layers, waterproof outer layers, warm gloves, a helmet, goggles, and a face mask. If it's your first time on the mountain, you can also check out our First Timers Guide!
Lesson participants will meet their instructors at the Ski & Ride School Meeting Area, located near the clock tower in the village, 10 minutes prior to the lesson time. If you need rental equipment, please arrive at the Ski & Ride Center at least 1 hour prior to your lesson. We also recommend you allow 20 minutes for parking and shuttle services.
Kids (Ages 5-6) Group Ski Lessons are available in half- and full-day options and you have the choice to add a lift ticket and rentals for the day.

- The Full-Day option consists of two, two-hour lessons that start at 9:30am and 1:00pm with a lunch break in between.
- The Half-Day option consists of one, two-hour lesson that starts at either 9:30am or 1:00pm.
- You must arrive 10 minutes before the lesson start time so we can sort your child into the correct group.

Learn to Turn Lessons
Our Learn to Turn Lessons are designed for those who are hitting the slopes for the very first time or needing some extra assistance on the Musical Carpet! This class is designed to help you learn the basics you'll need to continue practicing even after your lesson is over!

Basic Turns Lessons
The Basic Turns Lessons are for beginner skiers who are able to stop and turn in both directions across the hill in a wedge or a "pizza"! This class is for those who may have been out riding a few times and are ready to continue fine tuning their turns, maintain balance, and work their way up to parallel turns.

Beginning Parallel
This class is exactly what it sounds like, you're ready for parallel skiing! This means you've graduated from the wedge or "pizza" skiing and are ready to start perfecting your parallel abilities, controlling your speed, and working up to other terrain like Midway off the Basin Express.
Instructor gratuities are not included in the purchase price of your lesson. Your instructor is highly trained and specialized in their disciplines, often dedicating their life's work toward this endeavor! Your instructor operates in a service industry and gratuities are a common practice if you think they have met or exceeded your expectations. Similar to other service industries, gratuities are typically between 15%-20%. Instructors are typically able to receive cash, Venmo, and Zelle onsite. Please communicate with your instructor on a preferred method or platform that works for both of you. Cash gratuities can also be dropped off at the Ski & Ride Center sales desk if you know the first and last name of your instructor.
Ski & Ride School Cancellation Policy: Lessons are fully refundable if you cancel up to 2 full days before your lesson start time. Within 2 days, lessons are non-refundable.

Group Lessons are offered daily. However, they are subject to change based on instructor availability, group sizes, and events. For group lessons, please call (208) 603-5542. For private lessons, please call (208) 255-3070.
