Classic & Skate Skiers Welcome
Stretching over 32 kilometers, Schweitzer's Nordic trails offer spectacular views in every direction with challenging and friendly terrain for all levels of enjoyment. New to the sport? Go out with your own personal coach from the Snowsports School. Rossignol equipment (skate and classic) also available in the Demo Center. Nordic passes are required for access to the trail system.
Winter 2022/23 Nordic day pass - $17
Our Nordic trails are open daily (conditions permitting) from 9am to 4pm throughout the winter season. A Nordic ticket is required to use the trail system and can be purchased at the Guest Services ticket window. Nordic Season Passes are also available for purchase and offer you unlimited usage of the Nordic trail system. Snowbikes are welcome on the Nordic trails system when the snow is not too soft - please visit the Snowbike Page for more information. There is no access to the Nordic trail system via the Cattrack.
Schweitzer Nordic Trail Users Responsibilities:
* There are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce.
* Maintain control of your speed and direction at all times
* Ski in a manner that does not endanger others
* Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible by others
* Obey all signs and posted warnings
* Keep off closed trails
* Report all accidents
* Watch for unmarked obstacles
* Be safety conscious
* Dress appropriately for outdoor activity
Trail Courtesy
* Keep to your right upon meeting an oncoming skier
* A climbing skier should yield right of way to a descending skier
* Fill your sitzmarks
* Pack out garbage
* No foot traffic on ski trails
* Snowshoe Rules of the Trail
* Share the trail
* Walk single file
* Walk on the side of the trail
* For your safety, avoid the center of the skate lane
* Please respect the classic tracks set by the groomers

Nordic Trail Dog Policy
Schweitzer loves dogs, but for your dogs’ safety we ask you to respect the rules of the trail. Dogs are not allowed on any nordic trails.
Trail Descriptions
There are countless options on this scenic network of trails. We thought we would highlight a few of the more popular trails and leave the rest for you to explore and discover on your own.
Picnic Point Out and Back
This is a lovely trek that will take you through some of Schweitzer's more accessible and scenic terrain. Start at the village trailhead and follow Overland to the GRR trail intersection and turn left. Take GRR out to Picnic Point. Bring your lunch.
* Terrain: Gentle ups and downs.
* Distance: 3mi/5k round trip
* Elevation Gain: Total 320 feet
Overland Trail Loop
This loop takes skiers around the perimeter of Schweitzer's Trail system past Picnic Point and back to Schweitzer Village via the cat track short cut. There are numerous "side track trail" opportunities throughout the route.
* Terrain: Some sustained but not steep ups and downs.
* Distance: 5mi/8k round trip
* Elevation Gain: Total 550 feet
