Schweitzer Mountain Welcomes Lance Badger
as New Chief Development Officer

Sandpoint, ID (Dec 8, 2020) – Schweitzer Mountain Resort is pleased to announce that Lance Badger has been hired to fill the newly established Chief Development Officer role. Badger will be accountable for all real estate improvements for Schweitzer as well as creating and executing long-term development strategies for the resort. The key focus of those strategies includes additional real estate plans, sales and leasing, and recommendations on development locations and expansions of resort amenities.

“Schweitzer is a special place,” says Badger. “It is one of the last great undiscovered mountain resorts in North America. The master plan envisions a scaled approach to development while maintaining the authentic character of the place. It is the entry point to beautiful wilderness, marvelous views, and family adventure. Schweitzer is a place where you can live every day of your life to the fullest.”

Badger has a plethora of experience in real estate development having been involved in the actualization of several premier golf and ski resort communities. Prior to accepting the position with Schweitzer, he was involved with the visioning, planning, and placemaking of several large-scale resort communities in Colorado, including Cordillera in the Vail Valley, and Catamount in Steamboat Springs, amongst others.

The hiring of Badger is well-timed given construction is underway on a 30-unit, ski in/ski out boutique hotel directly adjacent to the existing Selkirk Lodge in the heart of the Schweitzer village. His experience in construction management will be beneficial as the resort looks to the scheduled opening towards the end of 2021.

Badger holds a master’s degree in real estate development and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, both from Columbia University. He has been involved with construction, building, and development for over 30 years. Besides his professional passion for the recreation industry, Badger shares his affinity for the outdoors with his wife and two grown children. The family are avid skiers, snowboarders, and Nordic enthusiasts.

“Lance’s commitment to community and his real estate development experience, specifically in the ski industry, will align with our current vision to expand our reach and grow our destination market,” says Schweitzer CEO & President, Tom Chasse. “Our Master Plan calls for carefully managed growth in our real estate holdings and I believe Lance will bring the knowledge and insight we need to do this responsibly and well.”
