Schweitzer’s Winter Season in Full Stride

220”of Snowfall for the Season & Record Visitation

Sandpoint, ID (February 23, 2019) – Despite the El Nino forecast for the 2018/19 winter, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is experiencing a strong ski season with consistent snowfall and record skier visits culminating during the recent Presidents’ Holiday weekend.

“We started the season slowly with regards to snow fall but as we got closer to the Christmas holidays, the snow we needed to open the mountain completely arrived and conditions were fantastic,” says Dig Chrismer, Schweitzer’s marketing manager. “Overall, Schweitzer received 68” of snowfall in December, 51” in January and 72” so far for the month of February. It’s been a wonderful build up and this month has been fantastic in every sense.”

“President’s Holiday weekend was one for the record books,” adds Schweitzer CEO, Tom Chasse. “We had a pretty challenging weekend the week prior due to windy weather but we had snow arrive as we ramped up towards the holiday and then fantastic sunshine. Saturday ended up being the 2nd busiest day for us on record. Our skier visits and revenue for the weekend outpaced budget by 25% and we are up 17% year to date. Our guests had great conditions and we were thrilled for them and for us.”

With excellent conditions mountain wide and 6 weeks left in the ski season, the resort is pleased to announce the return of the Spring Fling Pass. “There are a lot of people who want to enjoy the mountain as we head into the longer days of spring and this pass makes that possible,” says Chrismer. “Skiers & riders can purchase the pass for just $99 until March 10 (then $139 from March 11 on) and ski or ride any day from March 11 until the end of the season. Plus, the $99 can be used as a down payment for a full 2019/20 winter pass. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

All of Schweitzer’s 2019/20 winter passes, including the 2019 Spring Fling Pass, will be on sale starting March 1, 2019. For more details on pass pricing and information about the Spring Fling Pass, visit www.schweitzer.com
